Mission Opportunity #2
Who:  People age 15 and up can work this mission. This mission is a little more challenging than mission Opportunity One.

Mission Two involves more work and organizational skills. 

Your group must contact area businesses and ask them to give discounts to foster families. After collecting the business cards and agreed discount amounts your group works with a computer scanning in the cards and designing your own simple directory. Your group will print the directories and give them to your area foster parent association at a beautiful gift presentation ceremony you arrange. 

It sounds challenging but is really rather simple and will be an awesome project for high school or college level groups. There is an investment of time and money. Usually this project can be completed for less than a mission trip to faraway lands. The project is called Light Card. Read about it. It's simple, rewarding and inexpensive.

The idea is that we serve our local communities and the service be inexpensive so that groups will be enticed to serve and to teach to serve locally.  For some ink in your printer or copier, a few packs of paper, some card stock for you posters and $5-$10 gas money you teach young ones to serve their fellow children and make a difference. The more you work the more you will change you community for the better. Please share with your group the promise we have all received from God. It will not go out and return void. There will be a positive change as a result of this program. We have seen it every time.

Download your volunteer sign up sheet and send it to us upon completion so we can keep track of this love gift as it spreads across this fine nation. If possible send us a copy of your finished catalog of services and products for our records of your efforts.  Your work inspires others.

Download your copy of the business posters Texas version or all others on to the card stock. You need 3 posters per business which will be delivered at Business sign up time. You need only one pizza place, one auto repair shop, one game room, etc. You need to tell each business to display at least one poster where it will be seen and inspire conversation/thought and signal that the business is a Light Card supporter. The spare posters are for replacements in the event of window cleaning accidents, fading, etc.

Either work together or download your "Who's on it" sheet if you plan to break up into smaller groups to cover more ground quickly. This will keep you from duplication visits to area businesses. If you are looking for a statement you can give your group or area press for public service announcements effort you can print this too.
